“Jam on to a sound more sophisticated.”Another welcome deep dive from Numero, this time into a universe of outsider synth funk from University City’s Chasman. If the name looks familiar, chances are you picked up Numero’s excellent Escape From Synth City compilation, on which Chasman’s “Windfall”was the opening cut. The track is the perfect introduction to thatworld of lo-fisynthesizerfunk beats, but with thereissue ofthe entire Synth-E-Fuge album, we get to see the whole picture. Here Charles Grossman (aka Chasman) exploresdeviantstrains of electro, boogie, and funk, armed with nothing but his trusty Korg DW-8000 synth. An impressivefeatto say the least, witha variety of instrumentals andvocaltracksto keep you grooving in the cut. 8 tracks of ’89 private press gold faithfully reissed with repro pic sleeve. Recommended.
