Oyvind Morken: Invisible Objects EP – 12-INCH SINGLE

Oyvind Morken ventures into the functional aspects of dance music for his Invisible Objects EP. Invisible Objects repeats catchy melodic phrases over driving rhythm sections before the main melodic phrase drifts off it’s central pitch in a woolly distraction from the precise rhythm section. The Theremin like motif of Unholy Trance creates a hazy B-movie aesthetic against the backdrop of a primal pulse. The lusciously serene New Age of Smokin, a cover of L.B. Bad’s classic Nu Groove record from 1989, precedes the final ominous statement, Dance of the Drunk, which blends an electro beat with metallic bass-stabs.
