Originating in the Dominican Republic sometime during the 1840s, merengue sports a blazing 2/4 dance rhythm initially powered by the accordion, a barrel-shaped drum called a tambor, and a scraper called a guiro. Nowadays, merengue boasts a brass and reeds backdrop or sequenced programs that in recent years has incorporated hip-hop and house. This foremost collection contains a bevy of 25 sizzling hits by today’s top merengue artists arranged for p/v/g, including: Bajo La Lluvia * Cuando Acaba El Placer * Pegame Tu Vicio * Suavemente * Tu Sonrisa * Yo Te Confieso * and more.
